"Confidence. When I attended the first session it was the first time I had left the house on my own since I had delivered. Now I feel I could go out on my own and meet our needs independent of others." ~Kelly
Our new mom's club is a nurturing place for women in early postpartum
(0-8 weeks) and their baby(s). Once a week you will have the
opportunity to meet other mothers, have conversations, and learn
techniques and strategies
to support you and your baby as you explore your new role as a
mother.
We know that life with a newborn is a little unpredictable, so we created the rolling enrollment which allows you the flexibility to join when the time is right and to come when it is convenient. The new baby club is facilitated in a relaxed and supportive environment by a social worker who is also a mom. Here are the topics:
- Mom's Care (changing bodies and relationships)
- Newborn Care (care of infants, developing connections, benefits of touch through massage)
- Eating for Baby (breastfeeding questions, triumphs, and support; bottle feeding and supplementation; healthy eating and lifestyles for mom)
- Around Town with Baby (where to go and what to do with an infant)
When enrolling for the class, select any series
listed. You will be given a 4-class punch card at your first class,
which you can
use at any time. Your card is good for any 4 classes in your first 12
postpartum weeks. Want to check us out before enrolling? Come as you
are with your baby and if you like the class, purchase your 4-class punch card
at class and you will get five classes for the price of four.
Heading back to work? This is the perfect opportunity to start building your community with other moms for on-going support during the first year.
Instructor: Julie Leonard
I started with Lamaze after attending a New Mother’s Group with my first child in 1997. My wonderful experience with that group led me to work for Lamaze, leading Mother’s Groups, Childbirth Classes and Becoming Brothers and Sisters Classes. After a hiatus to be home with my two children, and earn a Social Work degree from EMU, I am thrilled to be back at Lamaze. I truly love helping to guide new parents through the amazing maze of parenting. I believe that having a strong, supportive community is one of the most important factors to being a parent, and I hope to help build that community for our new families.Class Details
